It is almost a dead horse at this point, but New Day have really stagnated creatively since WrestleMania. The last few months have been proof if ever proof was needed that the trio works far better as obnoxious heels, and that knowing and beloved babyfaces leads to their act becoming stale and somewhat neutered.

Losing the belts that they have held for more than 430 days would signify the beginning of the next chapter for Woods, Kingston and E. There is still plenty of mileage in the New Day tank, but moving forward as babyface record-breaking champions would be the worst decision for all involved.

The New Day have had a fairly comfortable and unruffled plate for the best part of 2016, only truly coming up short whenever they have found themselves against trios or quartets. They need a mountain to climb if they are to continue as faces, or a reason to turn back heel if that is the route that is chosen.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
