It's a strange thing, the human mind.

It is a blob of matter, carbon and water the size of bread dough capable of imagining and achieving the impossible, of processing our vast reality and, some say, what lies beyond it. What enters it is anybody's guess.

Anyway, for whatever reason - David Lynch calls this the absurd mysteries of the strange forces of existence - the final line of the chorus of Celine Dion's 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now' entered your writer's exhausted British mind as this main event unfurled in all its overbooked, nonsensical bullsh*t.

WWE is actually a bit rubbish, isn't it?

Even after a more than stellar show overall, we saw yet more interference chicanery, and Dolph Ziggler climbing the Cell only to fall off it alongside Seth Rollins in a spot that was only ever going to force fans to further resent Roman Reigns for just lying there doing nothing for a full five minutes. And then Brock Lesnar made his shocking return, less than a month after we were instructed to resent him. His cameo was electric - he climbed up the Cell door he kicked down like a total badass - but two F5s were apparently enough to put an inconclusive end to a stipulation match designed to end things conclusively.

It's all coming back to me now.

The match itself wasn't half-bad - a brief return, albeit a very diminished one, to Roman and Strowman's pulsating powerhouse chemistry - but that non-finish was peak 2018 WWE.

Star Rating: **1/4
