WWE Hershey Live Event: 10 Interesting Observations
7. Heavy Casual Fan Presence
There was a heavy presence of families, kids and casual fans at Sunday's show. Just sitting in the stands and listening to the people around me, it was interesting to see how many of the wrestlers the fans knew or were at least familiar with, but did not necessarily follow the ongoing storylines of. For instance, everyone knew who Kevin Owens was, but not everyone knew about his renewed rivalry with Sami Zayn. People knew AJ Styles, but few brought up his feud with Chris Jericho. It was a strange atmosphere to say the least, especially given the close proximity to WrestleMania. In many ways, it was as if the Superstars themselves, as well as the WWE brand, was greater than any of the ongoing programs that dominate Raw and SmackDown. That may be the biggest indictment of Creative yet.
Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
