He might be tethered to Major League Wrestling for the foreseeable future, but it looks like Davey Boy Smith Jr. is back on WWE's radar.

The 33-year-old has previously worked for the promotion as DH and Harry Smith, and was a two-time Tag Team Champion as part of the Hart Dynasty with Tyson Kidd and Natalya. He left the company after a lengthy period of inactivity in August 2011, however.

PWInsider recently reported that Smith recently inked a new MLW contract to stay with the organisation for the next few years. The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer followed up with a story stating that MLW intend on handing DBS Jr. a considerable push. but he's also generating big interesting from major promotions - including WWE.

MLW contracts are a grey area, as several other wrestlers (including Pentagon and Rey Fenix) have been allowed to break them to sign with other companies in recent months, suggesting they aren't as iron-clad as those in WWE or AEW. Regardless, it would be interesting to see Smith plying his trade on such a big stage after making a name for himself on the indies and in NJPW over the past few years.
