WWE Invasion 2001: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

1. Ten Matches Are Too Many

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npY2hGN11nM One of the big problems with the Invasion storyline was that WWE was trying to do too many things at once. They brought in so many new wrestlers, they had too many titles around, they weren't sure if they were going to keep the WCW name alive and the result of all that was there was just too much of everything. When you have a three hour PPV you should only have seven or eight matches. If it's more than that then you're overdoing it. If you really want the matches to mean something then you have to give them time. Looking at this show, there were seven matches that went under ten minutes. That means they were way too rushed. When you rush the matches that much you're basically telling the viewers at home that they don't matter because they're finishing up so quickly. By having longer matches it allows the wrestlers to get their moves over, make fans invest in them as performers and get into the finish before it gets wrapped up too quickly. When you spend a month building up a match only to see it paid off in four minutes then you're telling the audience that your TV shows don't matter as much since they are really building to nothing special. While there were definitely some highlights to the show, the fact that everything felt so rushed definitely hurt the midcard matches aside from the opener as well as RVD/Hardy. Nothing else in the midcard was that memorable. ---- What PPV do you want to see featured next? Let us know in the comments below.
