4. The Tag Team Opener Was The Right Choice

Edge and Christian were one of WWE's three main tag teams in the three years leading up to the Invasion, so it made sense that they were together representing WWE on this show. This was also around the time when Christian was becoming jealous of Edge since Edge won the King of the Ring a month before this. There were actually a lot of moments where E&C made some mistakes as a way to set up their split. It was actually a different kind of Edge & Christian match because we were so used to them wrestling as heels for the majority of their run, but the theme of this show was that the fans were backing the WWE guys. The team of Storm & Awesome were a good choice for the Alliance side because Storm was an athletic wrestler while Awesome was a good power guy. It was the right kind of mix. There were a lot of nearfalls in the match, but it ended when E&C won thanks to Christian hitting a Spear while Awesome had Edge on his shoulders. It's also funny watching a match from 2001 where they were referred to as "brothers" like they were during this time.
