WWE Invasion Angle PPVs - Ranked Worst To Best
1. No Mercy 2001
No Mercy 2001 was what some might call the quintessential Invasion era PPV. Despite a strong backbone of beginning-middle-and-end bouts, the event was padded with matches that were average at best.
Despite being incredibly over at the time, The Brothers of Destruction take up two matches on the card with neither getting close to high gear. The two had been feuding with the team of Test and Booker T yet for some reason we got the classic Raw booking trope where they take on each other in singles competition.
Speaking of tag teams, the title matches were both enjoyable and told a great story. The Hardy Boys were on fire during the Invasion angle and the Dudleys weren’t far behind. They consistently made their opponents look far better than they could alone. Another seeming staple of the Invasion angle was a good Ladder Match and here we were treated to, arguably, Edge and Christian's greatest match as opponents to one another.
The feud between The Rock and Chris Jericho was built brilliantly leading into the event and their match exceeded all expectations providing a true Match of The Year candidate with Jericho finally “winning the big one".
The main event was a fresh take on the Austin-Angle feud with RVD being thrown in as a wildcard, an entertaining main event for a show that is well worth a watch anytime.
