This WWE Hall Of Famer wanted the same money as The Rock and Steve Austin.

Kurt Angle renegotiated his WWF deal to get the same downside guarantee as The Rock and Steve Austin in 2001.

The Hall Of Famer told listeners on his podcast that he was still on a rookie deal when he won the WWF World Title for the first time in October 2000. That meant he was guaranteed just $75,000 per year - Angle did say that he made way more than that due to pay-per-view payoffs and other bonuses.

Even so, Kurt wanted to make sure that he existed in the top bracket of company earners with his next deal. The current one still had three years left to run, but he pulled Jim Ross aside and said, "I want what Rock and Austin are getting. Please talk to Vince".

JR didn't think that'd be possible, so he was honest with the Olympian about his slim chances. Undeterred and in the mood to be demanding, Angle asked the Talent Relations chief to have a word with McMahon anyway. Ross did, and everyone was surprised when the boss said yes straight away.

Kurt was delighted by that, because it told him that he was viewed the same way as Vince's top stars.
