WWE: Looking At A Mizerable Main Event And A Power Punch of NXT
Okay guys, normally I would do two separate articles looking at WWE Main Event and WWE NXT. But given the interest of time, since it is the kickoff of Wrestlemania week festivities and the fact that main events only had one match with some recaps of the Raw angles, I'm going to combine my thoughts on both shows into one big opinion piece.
Let's begin with the Main Event this week, which saw the Miz who is challenging for the Intercontinental title this Sunday in a handicap match for no discernible reason (unless I missed something on the WWE app Sorry my tablet is in the shop) against the Primetime Players with his opponent Wade Barrett on commentary alongside JBL and Michael Cole. There's so much wrong with this Like I said before, there was no reason for this The announcers didn't even try to say that the Miz was getting in the zone for Wrestlemania or anything that would remotely even make being in a match like this just 4 days out from the Intercontinental title match in MetLife Stadium. And it's not like the Barrett barrage has been unstoppable in recent weeks. As a matter of fact, it's been the exact opposite in which Barrett has been on the losing in the most on in gaining a victory when it's sheer jobber or when the title is up for grabs. Every other time it seems the winds of change are not blowing in his direction. Juxtaposed that with the Miz has been on a winning streak with the Figure 4 Leg Lock and it makes even less sense. All that said, it wasn't a bad match Probably the longest that the Primetime Players has ever been in a match, but not a bad one from a psychology standpoint. Although once again, the Miz never worked on the leg of Darren Young before putting on the patented leg lock and still his opponent instantly taps out. Barrett did well on commentary playing up how good the Miz is an trying to raise the level of match this Sunday on the preshow. However, for someone that was scouting his opponent he spent a lot of time conversing with JBL. At one point, even Michael Cole was asking him about the big matches this Sunday instead of keeping the focus on his match in what he's doing Barrett answers Now I know this is nitpicky, but it just struck me as odd considering your opponent has defeated you pretty easily in the past. All this plus video packages, you're going to see multiple times throughout the week and this Sunday as well as Swiss cheese like logic makes it one of Main Event in quite some time which I guess WWE was expecting.
