WWE Money In The Bank 2016: 10 Things We Learned

A year!? Dean Ambrose doesn't need a year...

Before anything had even started at Money In The Bank, WWE decided to tamper with their own card. Initially, both Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews and Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin were supposed to take place on the Kickoff show. The company bumped both of those bouts onto the main card, replacing them with a pair of tag-team matches on the pre-show.

Breezango vs. Golden Truth and The Lucha Dragons vs. The Dudley Boyz were those replacements. This made the main card feel a little busy, perhaps even a tad cluttered. Money In The Bank did go slightly longer than other pay-per-views as a result, but then there had been rumours about WWE wishing to do this from now on anyway.

Nobody can complain about the action on tap, but what was learned from the event? There's a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and the belt changed hands more than once in Las Vegas.

Elsewhere, John Cena continued to defy his doubters wishes to see him fail, delivering one of the best matches of his career with AJ Styles.

Let's take a look at what can be gleaned from Money In The Bank, and what it means for the future...

10. The Lucha Dragons Still Have Something To Offer

Kalisto's WWE United States Title reign was hardly the most inspiring, management never really looked too comfortable with the idea of getting behind the masked man. Since dropping the belt to Rusev, Kalisto has been placed back by the side of Sin Cara in The Lucha Dragons. That duo faced The Dudley Boyz during the Money In The Bank Kickoff show.

Handed a few minutes longer than the other tag bout on the pre-show (Golden Truth vs. Breezango), both teams worked an entertaining match that actually had fans enthused and ready for the main pay-per-view. In terms of hyping up the live audience, this one was a success.

Notably, ringsiders looked receptive to The Lucha Dragons, which bodes well if those backstage were watching. Sin Cara and Kalisto still have something to offer, even if they're not immediately going to jump back into the WWE Tag-Team Title hunt.

A feud against The Shining Stars would reinvigorate both, for example. If nothing else, Money In The Bank proved that fans are still willing to react to The Dragons.
