At a completely different point in his career to Baron Corbin, Rusev is someone who was badly in need of repair at the turn of the year. 2015 had largely been a disaster for the man, following a hot start and rivalry against John Cena. Since the League Of Nations ended, he has been handed the WWE United States Title and booked properly.

Titus O'Neil was Rusev's main challenger for Money In The Bank, hardly the most inspiring showdown for fans. That said, it did end with the required result, a comprehensive Rusev win that he can now move on from with some momentum on his side.

Had WWE booked O'Neil to somehow beat Rusev and bag the gold, the Bulgarian's career may have been damaged beyond repair. Letting Rusev get the win, then badmouth the babyface on the microphone and show some personality was the right thing to do.

Now, the challenge is in giving Rusev a more meaningful feud he can get stuck into. The longer his reign with the United States Title goes on for, the better.
