Twice In A Lifetime
As a break up between the main events we were all anticipating the Scholars / Funk match as we hadnt been told it had been cut. The 80,000 fans in attendance were totally caught off guard when Cenas music hit. It didnt take the Cena haters long to catch up though and even the wife (who is an unashamed Cena fan) was shocked by how loud the boos were. With us both being Rock haters (look at my other articles as to why) we were blown away by the second biggest pop of the night for Rocky. There were small pockets of Boos that we could just sniff out but the crowd was definitely in Rockys corner. The moment Rock climbed the turnbuckle during his entrance to face us, I threw up my best Stone Cold finger salute in the small hope he may see me and realise we were not part of the millions. I still hold out hope he saw me no matter how slim the chance. I was facing him directly after all! By this point the air temperature had dropped quite a bit and the ability to stop myself shivering had become quite impossible. It was evident that everyone else was feeling the same cold spell as no one seemed particularly into making any noise. Even the obnoxious guy had calmed down quite a bit. The Bud Light buddys decided it was time to leave at this point and once again chose the worst time as the match had just started and we had all just sat down. Again, we let them no they were disrupting our viewing pleasure (to paraphrase) but thankfully they never returned. Why pay so much for tickets and leave before the main event?
It didnt help that we all knew that Cena was going to win and even the near falls didnt garner too much of a reaction. Once the final AA had been hit and the 3 count had occurred, the boos began again. Rock took his moment for far, FAR too long. Cena was waiting up the ramp, in salute pose for at least 2 minutes before Rocky decided to make his way up the ramp. It was quite bizarre watching Cena not moving a muscle for so long. Surely he could have just waited until Rock was close before raising his arm.So they left our site and WrestleMania 29 came to an end. But our journey back to Manhattan had only just begun...
