WWE Network: 10 Performers To Gorge On

1. Sting

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAA-BtDSFqg With the rumors of Sting coming to WWE seemingly more concrete than they ever have been, there may be no more appropriate time to look back on the star-studded career of the Man Called Sting. He spent most of his early career working for the UWF and NWA, before becoming one of the top stars of the 90's during WCW's rise to the top of the wrestling business. He is a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and a 6-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. In the years since WCW closed and we speculated when or if Sting might ever come to the WWE, he's been one of the most decorated wrestlers to ever live. And that's with good reason. Sting has been a part of some of the most memorable matches and wrestling moments ever. His historic match against NWA World Champion Ric Flair at the first ever Clash of the Champions, is full of so many thrills and pure, unfettered emotion, that you simply can't take your eyes off it. Sting and Flair would go on to wrestle many more iconic matches. But perhaps no match of Sting, on no event, can I praise more than Sting vs. Diamond Dallas Page from WCW Monday Nitro on April 26th, 1999. At this point, Sting was one of the old dogs of the NWA/Crockett era. Having started his career in 1985, Sting was no spring chicken. DDP, having become one of the most popular stars in the company at the time, was already a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion himself, having won the title off of Ric Flair at Uncensored 1999 in March. Ignoring the backwards booking of WCW, the match between Sting and Page was an easy 5-star match. The two men clicked on every level, and put on perhaps the greatest match in Nitro history.
