WWE Network: 10 Performers To Gorge On

2. Jerry Lawler

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fQPNwfz5f8 Jerry Lawler may be the most decorated wrestler in history. A former AWA World Heavyweight champion, 2-time Smokey Mountain World Heavyweight Champion, 2-time United States Wrestling Association Champion, a WWE Hall of Famer and so, so much more. Lawler began his career in the 1970's, working for numerous organizations until coming to the WWE. Despite having not won a title in his entire WWE career, Lawler has carved out an enduring legacy in the company. His fued with Bret Hart in 1993 ultimately lead to some of the most memorable moments in both Lawler and Hart's careers. Lawler's sharp tongue and quick wit put him at odds with the entire Hart family. During a match on Raw, where Bret was facing Bam Bam Bigelow, Lawler took the time to come out and verbally assault Bret's parents in the audience, Helen and Stu Hart. The two engaged in a Kiss My Foot match at King of the Ring 1995. This match stipulation was later re-used during Lawler's fued with Michael Cole. But half the battle in wrestling is getting emotion from the crowd. And in 2011, Lawler challenged The Miz for the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. A match that was driven on nostalgia, the story of the match was simple. Lawler had never wrestled for the WWE Championship, and this was his final shot. It was simple storytelling, but it worked, and the two had a great match. Lawler, as a heel, was a master of the craft. A single gleam in his eye was all it took for the crowd to know he was up to no good. And he could have any crowd, of any size, in the palm of his hands just like that.
