WWE Newcastle Live Review - 9 Interesting Observations

5. WWE Could Do Big UK Business With Bad News Barrett

Bad News Barrett got the huge pop you would expect back in England. He is really solid talent who has the look, the mic skills and brawling ring style to become an even bigger star. His match itself in Newcastle, a four way IC title defence against Big E, Jack Swagger and Rob Van Dam was nothing special. It started with a Zeb Colter promo which was the exact same angle as last time WWE visited. Zeb is so entertaining in his delivery that it never got old. Once the match got underway it was mostly Van Dam who stole the show with his mix of athletic spots. Barrett eventually got the win with his bull hammer elbow. The crowd had been quiet for parts of the match and some people even tried to get a "He's got the whole world in his hands" chant going but failed. Barrett is the biggest British star in the company, that was obvious from the show. If WWE got behind him in a big patriotic way, they could really make some big business out of him in England. A PPV return to Wembley could be massive, just look at some of the business the NFL does over here. Book that and put Barrett in the number one contender spot for the WWE title and you would have one of the biggest WWE successes of the year. The company should look into it.
