Due in part to near falls like the one detailed in the previous entry, it felt massively satisfying when Dolph Ziggler became WWE Intercontinental Champion. WWE pay-per-views rarely whizz past without at least one title change, and that can sometimes make such switches feel a little unnecessary. Here, the change felt entirely warranted.

Dolph's career was on the line, in storyline at least. By winning the Intercontinental gold, he now remains part of the SmackDown Live locker room and WWE roster. Some may have went into the match questioning whether or not his time was truly up, now everyone has their answer.

Ziggler has won the Intercontinental Title before, four times in fact. This fifth reign feels like the most weighty though, something that proves the ongoing career-threatening angle was a winner. Alongside that story, the actual content of the match in-ring was well-structured.

The Spirit Squad even poked their noses in, waved to the ring by Maryse. They were merely there to taste some Superkicks though, paving the way to that popular Ziggler win. The reaction to the match-winning pinfall says it all, people loved Dolph's victory.
