WWE No Mercy 2017 Review
There are a few reasons why we know this isn't John Cena's ordained retirement bout. Firstly, it took place on No Mercy before an Enzo Amore match. Secondly, it obviously isn't. But the company were utterly desperate to portray this as the end of the line for the aging 'Face that Runs the Place'. Cena, paradoxically thanks to his growing hair, resembles Hulk Hogan more and more with each passing match, but even on a good day the 'Hulkster' would never have mirrored John's generosity on this occasion. Reigns survived four AAs before his single spear bested the prototype. A bit much, as they say.
There's a very real argument at this stage that Roman Reigns has been WWE's wrestler of the year. Besides his contest with a crumbling Undertaker, the lad has, perhaps under the instruction of his Hollywood headlining cousin, just brought it to every PPV match he's had over the last nine months. Furthermore, his new character direction ('ar*ehole') has been as entertaining as anything on Monday nights of late. Maybe he deserves to headline a fourth WrestleMania after all?
Enzo Amore vs. Neville: no.
