KUSHIDA's latest NXT Cruiserweight Championship Open Challenge saw yet another fresh face take a crack at the Timesplitter this week. Formerly known as Blake Christian, Trey Baxter, equipped with a video package highlighting his penchant for high-flying, looked to make a significant impact in his first match on the black and gold brand. And, oh boy, did he.

Matching KUSHIDA's proficiency in grappling and striking with his aforementioned ability to take flight from just about any position imaginable, Baxter let loose with a standing Spanish Fly, a cheeky springboard moonsault, spinning dive over the top rope, and even a springboard 450 splash during his debut showing. However, none of that was enough to best a performer seemingly in the form of his WWE career as KUSHIDA came away with his latest victory thanks to his vicious trademark Hoverboard Lock.

Whilst all this was going on, viewers were briefly distracted by the arrival of Kyle O'Reilly. As it turns out, the former Undisputed Era man was on the lookout for his chosen opponent for next week, with Regal giving Cole and himself the pick of the roster earlier in the night. It now looks like we're set to see the pair of dynamic babyfaces throw down in seven days time and you wouldn't bet against the duo tearing down the house in the process.
