WWE NXT 8 Ups And 1 Down (Jun 15)
4. LA Knight Lands A Million Dollar Sucker Punch
After officially becoming the latest man to carry the Million Dollar Championship, and with that the Million Dollar legacy going forward, LA Knight's inevitable coronation went down last night.
Knight decided to head down an unanticipated route when it came to his acceptance speech, however. Instead of running down his TakeOver opponent Cameron Grimes or blasting Ted DiBiase now that he had the gold, Knight claimed that the Million Dollar Man was a fixture of his childhood and even went as far as to admit this was the greatest moment in his wrestling career. How touching.
Those inside the CWC saw through this facade from the second the former Eli Drake opened his mouth, though. So, when Knight eventually decided to drop DiBiase like yesterday's news, an army of boos were already well and truly prepped to bombard the slimeball heel.
Even though this was supposed to be Knight's crowning moment, it was hard to look past Grimes as the real star of the show here. From the crowd's constant chants of "we want Cameron" and "to the moon!", to the sound that greeted his eventual save of a fallen WWE legend, NXT have done an excellent job presenting Grimes as someone to get behind, it must be said.
So, strap a rocket on his back and send him to, you know, that place.
