WWE NXT Blackpool - 10 Live Observations

10. Throwback To The Royal Albert Hall

Back in 1991, the WWF visited the historic Royal Albert Hall, usually home to the finest events in theatre and classical music, and transformed it into a wrestling venue for the night and would go on to release the event on Coliseum Video with €˜Battle Royal From The Albert Hall.€™ I watched that VHS dozens of times and I one of the things I loved about it was the surroundings of the venue that allowed The Undertaker to enter to the ring with his music played on the house organ and have it feel different to the usual arenas. The Empress Ballroom in Blackpool is a similar venue in that it€™s steeped in history and grandeur with ornate ceilings and chandeliers hanging all around the ballroom. From the massive mounted video wall to the decadent balconies, it added a unique feel to the night€™s proceedings. As wrestlers would make their way to the ring you could see them soaking in the historic look of the venue. Bayley was in awe of the balconies and was visibly shaking her head at how cool it was. The NXT roster have come a long way from Full Sail.
