WWE Paul Heyman DVD Review: 13 Things You Should Know

10. Hating WCW

Paul Heyman first came to national attention as Paul E Dangerously in WCW., but unfortunately fame didn't bring him happiness, as he was frustrated in WCW and unhappy with the corporate machinations that dominated the business. He left acrimoniously in 1993, later filing a lawsuit against the company, which he ended up winning though to this day he can't discuss the nature of his exit. For that reason, the DVD has to brush over what could have been a very interesting talking point. For the record, Heyman's exit and lawsuit accused WCW of antisemitism. "They hated me, I hated them back," is all Heyman says about the severance. "I was 27 years old and I'd had enough. I was done." He ended up getting brought to Tod Gordon's ECW to help wrestlers with promos. When Eddie Gilbert left the booking duties a short while later, Heyman was handed the book. The rest is history. "He took talent and made them into stars" says Gabe Sapolsky, Heyman's assistant and Ring Of Honor founder.
