WWE Payback has come and gone for another year, and as usual, it was a generic filler PPV where little of actual significance happened. If you missed the show, you didn't really miss anything.

Though there weren't any strictly terrible matches, it's nevertheless another shining example of WWE's "F*** you, that's why!" booking, where several promising bouts were killed by a terrible creative decision, done merely for the sake of "shock value" rather than because it makes sense story-wise.

Still, at least half of the show's matches were entertaining enough even if little here was truly memorable, and it's likely a PPV you won't remember watching later on in the year. At least it wasn't as rage-inducing as WrestleMania though, right?

Here are WWE Payback 2016's matches ranked from worst to best...

8. Dolph Ziggler Vs. Baron Corbin

Result: Ziggler rolls up a cocky Corbin for the surprise victory (7:46).

Rating: The show's first match got us off to a dubious start, but at least we got the PPV's worst match out of the way as quickly as possible.

Ziggler winning just makes zero sense booking-wise: why have Corbin win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale at WrestleMania if you're not going to let him have some serious heel momentum moving forward?

It was a dull match on the whole, Corbin came out of it looking dumb because he toyed with Ziggler too much, and though the ending is clearly intended to play off Corbin's cockiness and Ziggler's speed, it doesn't really help anyone in the long run. Atrocious. 4/10
