The horror, the horror.

The first post-WrestleMania PPV often struggles to entice fans, as it can end up feeling like a warmed-over rehash of the year's biggest event, yet with Payback, WWE actually delivered a thoroughly entertaining show for the most part...with one major exception.

Thanks to smart, expectation-defying booking and a ton of rock solid in-ring work, this was far from the low-effort late April PPV many fans have come to expect. Simply, #CancelWWENetwork wasn't trending last night, which is always a good sign.

It wasn't perfect by any means, and there weren't any Match of the Year candidates in the mix, but as far as WWE shows go, this was uncommonly consistent.

8. House Of Horrors: Randy Orton Vs. Bray Wyatt

Result: With the help of Jinder Mahal, Wyatt nails the Sister Abigail to score the victory.

Rating: Well, this definitely happened. You can knock at least one point off the score straight away because the match took place at night despite it being broad daylight in San Jose.

It was also impossible to take the pre-taped segment seriously as a live fight because of the overly-cinematic editing and camerawork (not to mention the dramatic musical score and obviously dubbed insect chirping).

The first part of this match was a weirdly compelling, cheesy trainwreck in its own way, but you had to feel for the in-arena audience, who essentially had to watch almost 15 minutes of the show on a video screen.

It went on way, way too long, people stopped caring long before the match resumed in the arena, and Jinder's involvement was super lame.

An absolute flop and a clear (failed) attempt to cash-in on the Hardyz' recent TNA shenanigans, but at least it was memorably bad. After all, who is ever going to forget that damn fridge? 3/10
