WWE Payback Review: Analyzing 5 Biggest Talking Points

2. Ready For The Main Event? YES!

With John Cena now disposed of Ryback, who will be occupied the next couple of weeks suing numerous Chicago hospitals for their shoddily built ambulances, he will need a new challenger for the WWE Championship for Money in the Bank. Well, who could possibly be any better than the most over superstar in the business at the moment? Daniel Bryan has been performing in the tag team division for too long, and despite his excellent chemistry with Kane forming a very good odd-couple team, as well as the stellar match against the Shield alongside Randy Orton at Payback, it is time for Bryan to return to singles competition. And with his recent performances drawing widespread critical acclaim from both fans and former wrestlers, it is about time he was competing in the main event. And John Cena is his perfect opponent. No matter how much certain sections of the WWE fanbase criticise the current WWE Champion, Cena has shown that given the right opponent and time to work, he can have world class encounters. His brawling and power moves often work well with a more technical/high-flying opponent. Quality PPV matches against Chris Jericho, Edge, Shawn Michaels and CM Punk are testament to this fact, and Daniel Bryan fits the bill perfectly. They have only met sporadically for a short amount of time, and actually once met on WWE Velocity in 2003. But, it just makes sense that one of the hottest properties in the WWE at the moment should be the next No. 1 Contender. Neither of these two has to turn heel, but can just channel a strong rivalry through both's desire and determination to be called the best. Also, Bryan is one of the few men on WWE TV at the moment that could possibly pose a threat to Cena's reign. So, it's what the fans want to see, will certainly be a great match, and could provide a less than certain outcome. What's not to like?
