WWE Planning Lucha Brothers Reunion Following Andrade's Release? (WWE News)
Could a Lucha Bros. reunion be on the horizon in WWE?
With Andrade having now departed WWE, could the knock-off effect of that be the reunion of the Lucha Bros.? Maybe.
Per BodySlam.net, Andrade's exit has led to some reshuffling of Rey Fenix's creative plans. As such, one idea that's been discussed is reuniting Fenix with Penta and bringing the Lucha Bros. tag team to WWE screens. This report does note how nothing is confirmed or imminent right now, but that there have at least been talks of putting one of the most exciting teams in the world back together.
For those who may have missed it, news broke over the weekend that Andrade had left WWE, with it soon becoming apparent that this was very much a WWE decision, rather than any sort of mutual agreement. In fact, the former WWE United States Champion and NXT Champion had over 18 months remaining on his WWE deal. Since then, it's been reported that an unspecified "disciplinary issue" was the reason for this release, with Andrade sent home from a SmackDown taping last month.
Interestingly, prior to those issues, there was a tentative plan for Andrade and Rey Fenix to challenge the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Titles at Clash in Paris. Those plans obviously changed, with the Street Profits being the ones to face the Wyatts. Despite Andrade having been off WWE TV since SummerSlam, Fenix has been back on screens, putting on a cracker of a match last Friday, where he came up short against US Champion Sami Zayn.
As for a Lucha Bros. reunion, that would certainly provide a huge shot in the arm for the tag team ranks, particularly if that reunion was to take place on Raw. After all, Penta has been regularly on the wrong end of a three-on-one beatdown in recent weeks, courtesy of the New Day and Grayson Waller. Sure, he may have had the War Raiders backing him up at times, but that still shouldn't rule out the possibility of Fenix coming to his brother's aid over on the red brand.
Whether it happens, that remains to be seen, but the Lucha Bros. would be a whole bunch of fun in WWE.
Penta and Fenix first officially teamed together back in 2015, with the pairing going on to have tag team success in the likes of PWG, MLW, and TNA before landing in AEW in 2019. The two last teamed up on a July 2024 edition of AEW Rampage, where they picked up a win over Private Party.
