Coming off of the back of four disappointing PPV's, expectations were low, particularly as there was only one actual TLC match €“ the main event between Randy Orton and John Cena, which was meant to be a title unification match. Given that the event isn't one of the company's 'big four', most expected some form of screwjob ending, making it a pleasant surprise when Orton won the belts cleanly by ascending the ladder and unhooking them, presumably beginning the 'road to Wrestlemania' in the process. The two three-on-one handicap matches were surprisingly each given 12-13 minutes, allowing CM Punk and Daniel Bryan to flourish respectively against The Shield and The Wyatt Family despite it looking like each match would be one-sided. Elsewhere, there wasn't really a singular 'bad' match (and indeed the four-way tag match was excellent even if one of the teams was put together at the last minute), though things could've been improved had some of the scheduled bouts been given more time at the expense of the last minute additions of Kofi Kingston vs. The Miz and Brodus Clay vs. R-Truth. Their inclusion at the event came at the exclusion of Alberto Del Rio, however, giving fans a much-needed break from the Mexican performer after seeing him participate in seventeen consecutive PPV's.
