WWE: Ranking John Cena's 14 World Title Reigns - From Worst To Best

7. WWE Championship (7th WWE, 9th Overall) March 28, 2010 - June 20, 2010

John Cena was able to quickly extract revenge against Batista after the events of Elimination Chamber when Cena invoked his rematch clause to challenge The Animal at WrestleMania 26 in one of the main events at the 26th edition of the annual extravaganza. Cena would win the match with The Animal at WrestleMania and continue to wage war with him over the next several months, before forcing Batista to quit in an I Quit match and quit the company completely, not to be seen until January 2014. These matches were amongst the best between Cena and his longtime compatriot and rival Batista and saw Cena handle Batista at his best and also avenge a neck injury from years earlier. Cena would lose the championship to Sheamus at Fatal 4 Way in a match also involving Edge and Randy Orton. This match, which saw Sheamus capitalize on an attack by the NXT rookies, set in motion Cena's problems with what would eventually become Nexus that would be the center of Cena's focus for a majority of the following year. The problems with the Nexus would see them get the best of Cena and be one of the most interesting periods of Cena's career.
