Much like Mr. Kennedy, Bryan stated that he was going to hold the briefcase until WrestleMania. But when the opportunity presented itself on a November episode of SmackDown, he cashed in against Mark Henry to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, the decision was reversed because Henry was not medically cleared to compete and Bryan was given his briefcase back. About a month later, Bryan successfully cashed in against Big Show who had just won the World Heavyweight Championship from Mark Henry in a Chairs match. Daniel Bryan went on to hold the title for over three months and, despite being booked as a weak champion, retained his title against superstarts like Big Show, Mark Henry, Wade Barrett and... Santino Marella. He lost the title in the opening match of WrestleMania XXVIII to Sheamus in 18 seconds. Not too impressive of a title reign.
