Later that night, he successfully cashed in his contract to defeat Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Championship. This was Kane's first World Championship since his one day WWE Championship reign in 1998 (unless you count his ECW Championship reign which I don't). And Kane made up for the first shortened title reign by holding the title for 154 days. In that time, he defeated Rey Mysterio in a rematch and he beat The Undertaker in No Holds Barred, Hell in a Cell and Buried Alive matches before losing the title at the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view in December. His reign came to an end when he lost the title to Edge in a TLC match which also featured Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio.
