14. WCW World Championship (6th WCW, 14th Overall) March 14, 1999 - April 11, 1999
A number of Ric Flair's WCW Championship reigns lasted a month or less especially in the twilight of his career. This would be the last of those reigns that lasted at least four weeks as Flair won the title at one Pay Per View and lost it at the next. Flair won the championship from Hulk Hogan in a Barbwire Steel Cage First Blood Match at Uncensored '99 that was also for control of World Championship Wrestling. Flair was in control of the company after defeating Eric Bischoff for presidency on a recent Nitro, so the odds in the match were clearly in the Nature Boy's favor as he told referee Charles Robinson to use discretion in ending the match, blatantly ignoring Hogan winning the match by drawing first blood and awarding the match, championship and company to Flair via a fast-count pinfall after Hogan had passed out while victim to a Figure Four Leglock. This was yet another title change that drew discord from the fans after Kevin Nash's victory over Goldberg and the subsequent "Fingerpoke of Doom" between Nash and Hogan a week later that was mired in controversy which would riddle and ultimately help doom the company, though this title change wasn't nearly as egregious as the two title changes previous nor some that would come after this (looking at you, Mr. Arquette). The reign, Flair's first in more than three years, was largely non eventful though the match itself succeeded in putting Flair back in a villain's role as it was clear the power had gone to his head. From this point, he would largely adjust things to favor himself or would exhibit nepotism in keeping the United States Championship on David Flair. The reign ended in a fatal four way with Hogan, Sting and Diamond Dallas Page the next month at Spring Stampede when Page would win his first World Championship, pinning Flair after connecting with a Diamond Cutter. The only lasting contribution to wrestling to come from this month is the moniker of "Lil' Naitch" for referee Charles Robinson due to his similarities in appearance with Flair and his role as Flair's referee of choice.
