WWE: Ranking Undertaker's 21 WrestleMania Victories Worst To Best

2. Triple H, WrestleMania XXVIII

One year after nearly seeing his unblemished WrestleMania record ended at the hands of Triple H, Undertaker returned in 2012 to challenge The Game to a rematch at WrestleMania XXVIII. Triple H, now a high-ranking official in the company, looked at things from a business standpoint and claimed that the Dead Man remaining undefeated at the Showcase of the Immortals was best for business. He declined the challenge and continued to do so until Undertaker compared Triple H's career to that of his best friend, Shawn Michaels. Triple H finally accepted the challenge, made the rematch a Hell in a Cell bout and later announced that Michaels would be the guest referee. It would be dubbed an End of an Era. Two evenly matched brawlers with a propensity for succeeding in Hell in a Cell matches, the match was fairly even throughout. Undertaker dominated the action early on, especially when it spilled outside the ring, but Triple H utilized the ring steps to regain control. Steel chairs came into play as the two iconic figures in WWE history pulled out all stops to try to defeat one another. One of the most interesting aspects of the match was the involvement of Michaels, who appeared completely torn at points. On one hand, he tried desperately to remain impartial. On the other, he felt intense loyalty to Triple H, who had been there for him during his darkest days. In the most shocking moment of the bout, Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to Undertaker, who was immediately grounded with a Pedigree from Triple H. The fans in Miami erupted and it looked as though the D-Generation X teammates had finally accomplished the impossible. The Undertaker inexplicably kicked out and the match continued. Unbridled brutality and two Tombstones later and the Dead Man left yet another WrestleMania victoriously. Realizing the moment he was in and understanding that an era really had ended, Undertaker aided Michaels in assisting Triple H up the aisle and to the stage, where the three stars embraced in an emotional moment. The match was every bit as epic as one would have hoped. Like a two prize fighters, Undertaker and Triple H threw everything they had at one another and Michaels' involvement made for some spectacular false finishes. A great match and one of the five best from the last decade.
