WWE: Ranking Undertaker's 21 WrestleMania Victories Worst To Best

15. Sycho Sid, WrestleMania 13

The WrestleMania 13 card underwent several changes early in 1997, thanks largely to Shawn Michaels "losing his smile" and forfeiting the WWE Championship to prevent jobbing to Bret Hart in the main event. With the top bouts on the show up on the air, it was decided that the company would reward one of its hardest workers and most enduring characters as Undertaker was named the number one contender to new champion Sycho Sid's title. The match would co-headline the event, with Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin in a submission match filling out the top portion of the lineup. The vocal Chicago fans erupted for the arrival of The Undertaker, who had not held the heavyweight title since defeating Hulk Hogan six years earlier at Survivor Series 1991. While the match was far from what anyone would consider good, the effort was most certainly there. Both Undertaker and Sid took bumps and attempted high risk maneuvers from the top rope in an attempt to have a match that broke free of the typical heavyweight championship bouts. One of the better spots in the entire match came when Undertaker attempted to Tombstone his opponent, only for Sid to reverse it and plant the Phenom with his own finishing maneuver. The interference from Bret Hart, who had turned heel earlier in the evening following his match with Austin, devalued Undertaker's win slightly but the Chicago fans still erupted when the Dead Man was announced as the new WWE champion. A better wrestling match than it gets credit for being but still one of Undertaker's lesser WrestleMania clashes.
