WWE Raw: 10 Things You May Have Missed (19th Sept)
1. Kevin Owens Was The Only Man In The Top Two Title Matches Who Lost
At Clash Of Champions, Kevin Owens will defend the WWE Universal Title against Seth Rollins. The new belt has already had quite the time of it on programming, including the Finn Bálor injury saga that meant a new champion had to be crowned in the first place. On Raw, that champ didn't have the best of evenings.
Earlier in the show, Seth Rollins and Rusev went to a double count out during their match. This seemed shrewd; why beat either man before they engage in huge title matches on pay-per-view? Sadly, the writing team didn't see things the same way when it came to KO.
Whilst Rollins was protected by his non-finish, Owens was beaten fairly by Roman Reigns inside a Steel Cage. Unable to escape before his rival, Owens therefore became the only man from the top two title matches at Clash Of Champions who lost outright.
Meanwhile, Rollins, Rusev, and Reigns were spared the indignity of defeat on the final push towards the pay-per-view. As WWE Universal Champion, it's fairly baffling why Owens wasn't handed the same distinction.
