WWE Raw: 10 Things You May Have Missed (Sept 12)
2. Everyone Bought Into Huge Main Event Near Fall
In terms of a wrestling main event on free television, Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns was tremendous fare. Pulling out all the stops to entertain, both men went close to the 25-minute mark, although there was a restart in there too. This was great value though, and the headliner featured several colossal near falls.
By far the best came when Reigns finally hit his trademark Superman Punch on Owens, fittingly almost nailing a 'KO' blow. This was particularly satisfying, because the WWE Universal Champion had earlier mocked Roman by performing his battle cry in the corner before missing a Cannonball attempt.
From there, the duo deftly pieced together a sequence ending with the big strike. As the WWE cameras panned over the crowd, it was obvious that most believed that would be the finish. Instead, Owens kicked out and the match continued.
Nowadays, it can be pretty hard to genuinely fool fans into thinking a bout is all over with, so credit must go to both guys here. Go back and watch the reaction of many in the crowd once Owens kicks out, they can't believe it.
