Mickie James was the surprising selection for Alexa Bliss' next feud, presumably just to fill time for the current Women's Champion ahead of her likely destruction by Asuka once the 'Empress Of Tomorrow's much-touted Tables, Ladders and Chairs debut is done and dusted.

With memories of the divisive 'Piggy James' angle never far away whenever Mickie's image is called into question though, the company have instead elected to present the 38-year-old James as if she was closer to Mae Young's age than the Mae Young Classic.

Ironically, Mickie was presumably rehired as much to share her wealth of knowledge and experience with the young and occasionally over-exposed female roster following an outstanding NXT TakeOver: Toronto match with Asuka last November. Electing to make exactly that the stick to beat her with, WWE have at least made mocking a person's immovable traits a heel move again instead of snarkily furnishing a top babyface with a line about a heel's sparkly gear or their supposed shared likeness with a globally renowned popstar.

Maybe some fans are just too old for this sh*t. TLC will show if Mickie is too.
