In the fourth Money in the Bank qualifier of the evening, Dean Ambrose beat Dolph Ziggler. With Ambrose's win, all three of the men who had previously won the MITB match and had a shot at taking part in it this year officially failed to qualify.

First was Sheamus, who won the match last year. Despite having a lousy 2015 up until Survivor Series, he cashed in the briefcase at the show and won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Roman Reigns in a widely-panned decision. Reigns won the belt back three weeks later.

The Miz lost to Cesaro, but in 2010, he claimed the briefcase at the first-ever Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View. After four months with the contract, he cashed it in on Randy Orton on Raw, claiming the title and going on to hold it for almost half a year. During that time, he headlined WrestleMania, defeating John Cena.

Finally, Dolph Ziggler won one of the matches in 2012, claiming a shot at the World Heavyweight Title. He saved his briefcase until 2013, cashing in on Alberto Del Rio on the Raw after WrestleMania 29 and winning the belt to a huge ovation. His run was hampered by a concussion, then ended at Del Rio's hands.

The only two-time winner of the Money in the Bank match is CM Punk, who captured the briefcase in 2008 and 2009. Unless Alberto Del Rio or Jack Swagger take one of the two remaining slots in the match, Punk's record will stand alone for at least another year.
