When WWE first split their rosters over two brands it seemed like the best idea for a talent pool that had become so big with the acquisitions of talent from both ECW and WCW. At first they remained exclusive to one another, with separate PPVs outside of the 'Big 4' and giving the impression of real competition between the two brands. Over the years the lines have blurred so much that now RAW is known as the RAW Supershow and features both RAW brand and Smackdown brand wrestlers on its show every week.

In fact, at present the number one contender for CM Punk's WWE Championship is Smackdown's for World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Many have called for an end to the split but personally we feel keeping the two separate for an extended period could be beneficial in the long run.
