WWE Raw Gallery: 25 Years Of Iconic Monday Nights

24. 1994 - Vince McMahon & Randy Savage Open Monday Night Raw

The Rock CM Punk
WWE Network

Dateline: August 1st, 1994

To coin a Vince McMahonism of the time, Monday Night Raw was 'all the way LIVE' on August 1st as the Chairman and Macho Man Randy Savage just couldn't help internal relief spilling out on air following McMahon's acquittal of all charges in the 1994 US Government federal trial.

Far from relishing his freedom with quiet dignity and moving on diplomatically, Vince had the broadcast liberally peppered with references to the case and all the key players. Savage gleefully described "Vince McMahon and The World Wrestling Federation annihilating the United States Justice System by pinning him (sic) in the middle of the ring 1-2-3. NOT GUILTY! NOT GUILTY!".

"It's going to be one of those nights", inferred the knowing McMahon as Savage suggested Shawn Michaels not be confused with Federal Prosecutor Sean O'Shea. He'd never sounded so relieved.
