Extreme Rules 2014 is officially in the books, and overall it was a rather nice PPV broadcast. From the surprisingly good pre-show WeeLC match featuring Hornswoggle and El Torito, through the epic Shield/Evolution showdown, and the brutal Daniel Bryan/Kane matchup, Extreme Rules hit almost on all cylinders. And while it didn't wrap up the storylines that they needed to move along from, it did provide for some great pay per view entertainment. That brings us to last night's edition of RAW. What a mixed bag of retreaded material and mid-card mayhem! It appears as though as we head towards the now-aptly titled Payback PPV, we are going to be in for more of the same: there are rumblings of a Daniel Bryan/Kane Casket or Buried Alive Match, Cena and Wyatt Part 3, and another Triple Threat Match for The Shield and Evolution. All are expected rematches, but WWE right now is failing to make any significant headway with other storylines. So let's take a minute to look at 5 things we learned from this week's RAW broadcast, as WWE attempts to reset the stage for it's next pay-per-view, Payback:
5. Evolution Attacks The Shield...Again
To close out the RAW broadcast this week, The Shield squared off (again) against The Wyatt Family in the main event match, and were subsequently attacked by Evolution to close the show. This angle is still burning hot from their Extreme Rules confrontation, with Evolution looking like monster heels as The Shield continue to shine in their new babyface role. Evolution administered another epic beatdown to the men who would dare challenge their authority and their spot atop the WWE roster, and again they demonstrate why they are still the top dogs in WWE. http://youtu.be/89f3soOyywI This program is continuing nicely. While it's arguable that Triple H should even still be performing since we are clear from Wrestlemania season, this entire angle works, with the reformation of a dominant Evolution stable and a group of young stars being held down and unable to overcome the legends atop the WWE roster. So far it has been a lot of fun watching The Shield come into their own as babyfaces, and seeing Evolution to come together once again as a monster heel stable that continues to beat down the youngsters until they learns who is in charge.
