WWE RAW Review: A Great Show Overshadowed By A New Belt

THE MIZ VS ANTONIO CESARO At Elimination Chamber, Cesaro beat the Miz after the Miz accidentally (OR WAS IT?!) hit Antonio Cesaro in his crotch region; this lead to a rematch on RAW with the stipulation of No Disqualifications. This match was great. Most NO DQ matches turn into atrocious spot-fests, but this one used the NO DQ stipulation to tell a good story. The Miz was still suffering from an arm ailment (I know this because, you know, bandages) he suffered the previous night, so Cesaro targeted that area. I enjoyed the finish with the dual-chair spots and I didn€™t mind The Miz€™s Figure-Four rendition. The Miz won and I was ok with that. I was not ok with the fact that the match wasn€™t for the US title. I thought with the way the commentators were billing it (€œThe Miz gets one more shot!), the title was on the line. When Miz won, I was thinking €œOk, cool, new champion,€ but then I realized it wasn€™t for the title. What€™s the point of having a rematch if it isn€™t for the title? Why even have titles if the champs never really have the thing on the line? Next will The Miz will probably go for the title, fall short, and then the never ending loop continues. I don€™t know why the champions don€™t put their belts on the line. That seems to be the only way they can win consistently. I guess putting the title on the line is the WWE equivalent of getting a red mushroom in Super Mario Brothers.
