WWE Raw Review: A Show That Was Better Than Wrestlemania

DOLPH ZIGGLER VS ALBERTO DEL RIO-WHC MATCH What I love about this cash-in is that there was a mini-match that went with it. Normally, the guy cashes in the cash, hit€™s his finisher, and that€™s it. Del Rio actually fought back. It makes him look strong and makes it look like, despite the original plan, Ziggler had to actually earn the title. Granted, I did get worried when Del Rio kicked out of the Fame-Asser. I thought Dolph was going to be unsuccessful with his cash-in. I was super-worried when Dolph got put in the armbar. It was logical that Ziggler attacked the hurt ankle of Del Rio to get out of the hold and my favorite part of the match. After waiting, complaining, waiting and complaining some more, Dolph Ziggler is finally the World Heavyweight Champion. I€™ve been a big Ziggler fan for a while so I am happy to see him finally be a proper-champion this time. The crowd pop when he won was one of the loudest I have ever heard as well. I€™m glad New Jersey was just as happy for Ziggler as I was. THE UNDERTAKER SEGMENT Undertaker comes out and begins his yearly €œI HAVE WALKED THROUGH THE FIRES OF HELL BUT THE STREAK LIVES€ speech but is quickly interrupted by the SHIELD. The SHIELD make their way to the ring. They surround the ring as the Undertaker prepares for a fight. As The SHIELD step up onto the ring-apron, the turnbuckles explode with fire as Kane and Daniel Bryan run down to aid The Undertaker. The SHIELD retreat back into the crowd. This segment could have been better. The SHIELD is coming off of a huge Wrestlemania victory and should be past the point of being afraid of the numbers game. This could be potentially setting up a match at Extreme Rules between all six guys. I€™d be ok with that but I€™m not sure if the Undertaker is sticking around post-Mania. SANTINO, ZACK RYDER, & R-TRUTH VS 3MB It almost pains me to write about this match after being entertained for pretty much everything else on RAW last night. This match wasn€™t bad. It was just a regular €œThese six guys need to do something on RAW so let€™s have a six-man tag match.€ Santino trying to imitate R-Truth, failing, then walking back to the corner to tag in someone else was funny, though. I€™ve noticed that the once loved Zack Ryder is now getting no reaction whatsoever. If Ryder had been on RAW in Jersey a year and a half ago, they would have treated him like a king. Last night, it was about as lukewarm as a reaction as one can get. I really can€™t tell if the WWE killed all that made Zack Ryder cool or if Ryder did it to himself. I think we fell in love with the underdog story that was Zack Ryder and really wanted him to succeed based on his YouTube show. Sadly, that was taken away from him and he is once again left to wonder about jobber status as he desperately tries to get over. I still like the guy, but he needs to mix it up. Santino€™s team wins this match. 3MB are still fairly entertaining but the €œguys who are bad at singing and being in a band€ needs to be taken more over-the-top to truly succeed.
