WWE RAW Review: Real Life Tragedy Fuels Wrestlemania Feud

JACK SWAGGER VS SIN CARA I don€™t know why Sin Cara is still even in the WWE. For someone who was supposed to be the heir to the kingdom of Rey Mysterio, he hasn€™t done much, despite being employed now for almost two-years. His most notable feud was with Cody Rhodes over a year ago. The WWE marches Sin Cara to the ring for the sole purpose of reminding kids that they can buy his mask at the concession stand. Last night, Sin Cara was marched out to get destroyed by Jack Swagger. There isn€™t anything wrong with this and helps build Swagger€™s anti-Immigrant character. Del Rio coming out to save Sin Cara was great as well. It was also funny to watch, considering there is supposedly bad-blood between Sin Cara and Del Rio in real life. I still can€™t believe I€™m excited for a Del Rio and Swagger match at Wrestlemania. The WWE deserves a medal for making that work. CM PUNK VS KANE CM Punk VS Kane was a main event that, not only made sense, but tied the entire night together and helped progress Punk€™s feud with Undertaker. Kane has never been known for having great matches (despite the fact that I own the 3-disc Kane DVD set), but last night you could tell he wanted to pay tribute to Paul Bearer and have a great match. Kane coming to the ring holding the urn was an eerie sight to see, especially with the combined emotion on Kane€™s face. He really sold the idea that he had just lost his kayfabe father. This match was brutal. Kane bounced CM Punk all over the ringside area and made you believe that he hated Punk. CM Punk was able to fight back and not be completely decimated. You really didn€™t know who was going to win this match. On the one hand, Punk could have won to complete his mission of disrespect for the evening. On the other, Kane could have won and avenged the disrespect Punk showed Paul Bearer and his brother earlier in the evening. Punk mocking the Undertaker was also classic heel Punk. Punk losing to Kane after the Undertakers €œDONG€ occurred was fine. Kane deserved to get the win that night. It was a great match and had emotion. The shot of Kane and The Undertaker paying tribute to Paul Bearer would have been a great ending to the show. Of course, Punk couldn€™t let that happen. He grabbed the urn and hit Kane with it, before running away. CM Punk left with the urn so I€™m not sure if he€™s going to keep using it or hold it hostage or whatever. I like the way his feud with the Undertaker is coming together. It€™s still tragic that a real death is what is truly fueling this feud though. Overall, a great episode of RAW. I didn€™t find myself looking for the remote nearly as much this week. Wrestlemania is starting to shape up and it isn€™t looking too bad. I€™m still disappointed at the lack of Money in the Bank match at Mania, but I€™m ok with it getting its own summer pay-per-view again this summer. We are only four weeks away from the big event. And for once, I cannot wait. How do you think Wrestlemania is shaping up? Have a favorite Paul Bearer memory? Let me know in the comments below!
