WWE Reading Live Review: 10 Interesting Observations You Need To Know

2. Big E Is An Extraordinary Comedic Performer

The New Day is one of the best acts in all of WWE right now but there may be no performer whose work in the group has flown under the radar more than Big E. The former intercontinental champion has been outstanding, using the preacher voice to greet the WWE Universe in every arena across the country, eliciting tremendous jeers everywhere he goes. Not only that, but his work between the ropes has also improved tenfold. Combining speed, agility and power, he is one of the hidden gems on today's roster. Sunday night, he showed off his comedic timing. First, he deliberately flubbed the name of the city, pronouncing it as "Reed-ing" instead of "Red-ing." Then, as the steam machines that take the place of pyrotechnics went off, he found himself lost in the smoke, frustratingly kicking at them and frantically waving the smoke away from his face. Once inside the squared circle, Xavier Woods was preparing top address the WWE Universe but entrance music had not yet cut off. It was Big E to the rescue, standing on the middle rope, looking back at the tech guys and motioning at them to cut the music. He became more and more animated as the music continued, going way over the top and threatening harm on them, a contradiction to the positive and uplifting message the trio claims to provide. His facial expression as he was caught in the electric chair at the hands of Cesaro (who partnered with Neville to win the match) was outstanding, as was his reaction to losing the match. While Woods has received the majority of the praise for his work on the mic during New Day's improbable heel run, Big E has been the real discovery. Hopefully at some point soon, WWE allows him to demonstrate that comedic nature a bit.
