WWE Reading Live Review: 10 Interesting Observations You Need To Know
5. Naomi's Heel Turn Is Dead In The Water
Remember when Naomi's heel turn seemed to indicate that she would finally be taken seriously as a competitor, a legitimate contender to Nikki Bella's Divas Championship? For a moment, it felt like she was on her way to the first title reign of her career, the addition of Tamina to her act only serving to enhance it. Then she lost a pay-per-view match and continued to lose, all the way up to Paige returning and reaffirming her spot as the top contender to the title. Since then, she has become a non-factor in the Divas division, the punching bag for either Paige or Nikki whenever one of those Divas needs something to do on Monday or Thursday nights. At the SummerSlam Heatwave Tour show in Reading, she entered the arena for her Triple Threat Divas Championship match against those two women to silence. There was little to no reaction for her, her light-up shoes or her offense. Nothing she did compelled the audience and much of that can be attributed to the fact that WWE Creative killed her push dead a month or so ago. That she hardly factored into the match, other than to bump around for her opponent, did not help matters. She was a complete afterthought in the match. Outside of the occasional fan cheering her on, or even bothering to boo her, it was almost as if the crowd had no idea she was involved. It is unfortunate because Naomi has long been one of the most underrated and underutilized talents in all of WWE. To build hope for a renewed push, only to see it go the way of the dinosaurs (or Funkadactyls) has been disheartening.
