WWE Releases 2020-2021: Where Are They Now?

48. Tony Nese

Tony Nese Josh Woods Mark Sterling
AEW

Released: 25 June 2021

Now: Former 205 Live regular Tony Nese has formed a tag-team alongside Josh Woods in AEW. The pair are managed by 'Smart' Mark Sterling and are called 'The Varsity Athletes' on TV. It's a decent-enough spot for Nese to be in, but he was another who was greeted like some game-changing signing for All Elite when that was never realistically going to be the case.

Let's hope he's having fun.

47. Mojo Rawley

Mojo Rawley
WWE

Released: 15 April 2021

Now: Psst! Who's a seven-time 24/7 Champ and has also won that coveted Andre The Giant Battle Royal? It's Mojo Rawley, of course. Rawley was cut by WWE in April 2021 after a significant period of time on the sidelines doing nothing.

He hasn't wrestled even one match since.

46. Lars Sullivan

Lars Sullivan 2020
WWE.com

Released: January 2021

Now: Pro wrestling just isn't for everybody.

Lars Sullivan caught flak for historical social media posts that were (amongst other things) racist and homophobic. WWE tried to salvage the situation by sitting on it and recycling Sullivan's monster push, but then quietly released him in January 2021.

Lars has since suggested that he's done with wrestling.

45. Breezango

Breezango Battleground 2
WWE

Released: 25 June 2021

Now: Dancing fool Fandango has shown up in organisations like IMPACT and the NWA after ending his lengthy ties to WWE - he's also done some gigs on the indys. Meanwhile, his old Breezango partner Tyler Breeze has returned to the company as a trainer at the Performance Center.

Their careers have gone off in different directions then.

44. Ever-Rise

Jericho Appreciation Society
AEW

Released: 25 June 2021

Now: The current Angelo Parker and Matt Menard never felt like they fit in WWE. After being released, they found work in AEW and have blossomed into a key part of Chris Jericho's new-ish Jericho Appreciation Society faction.

Both guys seem right for the promotion, at least way more than they ever did for WWE.
