WWE Road to Wrestlemania 29 - The Journey Begins

Dolph Ziggler

The other variable in the World Heavyweight Championship picture is Dolph Ziggler. Mr Money in the Bank has had a roller coaster these past couple of months. He took huge victories over Randy Orton at Survivor Series and then John Cena at TLC. However he was then effectively buried by Cena in the rest of their feud, but then had perhaps the best showing of any superstar in the Royal Rumble. Since then though Ziggler has been left kicking his heels. He has been left with his little stable of AJ Lee and Big E Langston, parading around with his briefcase with no real feud to keep him on our minds. A five minute match against Kofi Kingston at Elimination Chamber was nothing more than an exhibition. There has been the odd teasing of reigniting his feud with Chris Jericho, but Jericho is supposedly now disappearing for a while with his band Fozzy. A feud with Jericho when he returns could be just what he needs though and could lead to some fantastic matches, especially if Y2J is willing to put him over. On Monday Night Raw Ziggler had a match with Del Rio, the second in a short space of time, which he lost, tapping out to the cross-armbreaker (again). But after the match Big E took down Del Rio, presenting Dolph with the chance to cash-in. However before he could Roberto Rodriguez whipped away his briefcase, and by the time he had it back, Del Rio had regained his senses enough to fight Ziggler off. What it did serve to do though was firmly remind people that Dolph still has the potential to cash in at any time and challenge the champion. It could be sewing the seeds for him to cash in after Del Rio has faced Swagger (or whoever it may be) at Wrestlemania. That could present Dolph with his Wrestlemania moment, standing tall with the belt, or if WWE chose to sacrifice Dolph, could establish Del Rio as a bigger star by having him be the man who fought off two challengers in one night. Prediction: It could finally be the time for Dolph Ziggler to cash-in his briefcase at Wrestlemania on a weakened Del Rio.
