WWE Road To Wrestlemania 29: The Rock Takes Out John Cena

Chris Jericho vs Fandango

I want to start by saying that despite my recent criticism of Fandango, I do not hate him. But that is half the problem. I don't hate him, I don't want to boo him - there is no reaction, full stop. The gimmick is awful and short-term, there is no reason for people to be interested in him, there has been no show of any wrestling ability as yet, but despite all this, he is in a match at the biggest show of the year, against one of the biggest names in the WWE. Antonio Cesaro, Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler - these are just some of the names who could have a fantastic match with Jericho at Wrestlemania. For each of those a storyline could easily have been written, and for each a match with Jericho would be better than what they currently have. And most importantly, each of them have earned it. I am all for building new superstars, but throwing them straight into a huge match at Wrestlemania is not the way to do that. In fact it potentially does more damage than good. But despite all that, we have Jericho facing Fandango, whose first televised match will be in New Jersey. So on Raw, with Fandango out in the ring to face an opponent, Jericho got there first, running to the ring and unloading on Fandango after their confrontation on last week's Smackdown. Fandango scarpered and Jericho hung around for his match with Ziggler. Like this ridiculous booking needed highlighting any more, Ziggler and Jericho then put on a fantastic match, with Ziggler eventually tapping out to the Walls of Jericho. After the match however, Big E. Langston took out Jericho, leaving him prone in the ring, an obvious invitation for Fandango to return and unload on him, while screaming "Say My Name!" - no homoerotic puns please. He would finish with a top-rope leg drop, and his massively over gimmick of saying his own name - sorry, excuse the sarcasm. After beating Wade Barrett on Smackdown, Jericho declared he quite fancied winning the IC Title at Wrestlemania, but instead would face Fandango. After ribbing his opponent's name some more, Fandango's silhoutte dropped down above the stage - which does look quite cool I must admit - and the man everybody is desperate to see came out to the stage, walked to the ring, turned around and left again. Edge of your seat stuff. Prediction: I want to say Jericho, I really do. But I fear an upset is on the cards and Fandango will win his first EVER wrestling match at Wrestlemania.
