WWE Road to Wrestlemania 29: Triple H Puts Career On The Line Against Brock Lesnar
The Shield vs Sheamus/Randy Orton/Big Show
The swerve that everyone saw coming happened this week, with Ryback dropping out of team face to take on Mark Henry, and Big Show taking steps to join the fight against The Shield. Continuing along the Predictability Raw theme, Randy Orton and Sheamus dispatched of 3MB, before The Shield made their usual entrance and made their way to the ring. With the odds against Orton and Sheamus, Big Show lumbered out to the ring to even things against The Shield. Rollins, Regins and Ambrose quickly decided they had changed their minds and scampered back through the crowd, leaving Big Show to continue the annual theme of pointing at a big Wrestlemania sign to tell the other two he wanted in. On Smackdown, Orton, Sheamus and Big Show featured on Miz TV, leading to Booker T coming out to put them in a match together against 3MB to see if they can work together. Sheamus would eventually get the pin but not without upsetting Big Show first, leading to things getting heated between the two. Out came The Shield though, leading to Sheamus, Show and Orton regrouping to make sure they couldn't get into the ring and attack. So it seems Big Show is now very much on side. This was always coming, and whether this will mean face turn number 1345345450 for Big Show is yet to be seen. It could be more interesting to keep The World's Largest Athlete as a heel, simply uniting with the other two to take on a greater enemy, but that seems far too edgy for the WWE creative. Expect instead Big Show to start taking on some token heels in the coming weeks along with Orton and Sheamus, until we forget he used to beat up the babyfaces and becomes one himself. The problem with this match is the fact that it is nothing new for The Shield, except for the men they are facing. And the men they are facing are, by the WWE's own standards, weaker. At the Elimination Chamber, The Shield beat a team featuring John Cena, who is now taking on the WWE Champion in the Wrestlemania main event. They have also defeated the tag team champions and Ryback, who is consistently being pushed as the next big thing. The only consistent from the last two matches is Sheamus. So in theory The Shield are facing a weaker team, which means if they lose, it looks ridiculous, and if they win, then it is no great surprise. John Cena couldn't beat The Shield, but might go on to beat The Rock, so why should we believe Randy Orton can. And if Orton does, surely by WWE logic he is therefore better than Cena? Putting that aside, if WWE want to build up the next generation, The Shield should pick up another win on the biggest stage of them all. But as we have consistently seen, that is not the way WWE play. Prediction: I fear we could see a Brogue Kick from Sheamus to bring The Shield's progress to a prompt halt at Wrestlemania.
