WWE: The Rock To Produce & Star In HBO's Ballers

The Rock1 It was announced on Deadline.com that The Rock (real name Dwayne Johnson) will be producing the series Ballers along with Mark Wahlberg. The Rock will also star in the series that explores the live of former and current American football players with Johnson in the role of Spencer Strasmore, a retired athlete. The production of Ballers will start later this year and will likely air in 2015 at some point. No indication on how many episodes the series will be, how long filming will take or other details, but this seems like a project that will take up a lot of Rock's time later this year. He also has some movies coming out and likely other acting roles. One thing to always admire about The Rock is his work ethic. The man is always working, always striving for that next thing and doing what he can do be better. It's hard to know when or if The Rock will ever return to WWE again. You would think at some point he might make an appearance just to show up, cut a promo about how much he loves WWE Network and fire up a crowd. It's not like he ever has to wrestle again. Wasn't the whole point of the whole "I will never leave again" speech from 2011 to basically say that he was going to be involved in the company some way all the time? It seems like his only involvement is being on cover of the video game or having his merchandise sold on WWEShop.com and his likeness is all over too. The Rock has said on Twitter and in other places that his WWE deal was for WrestleManias 27, 28 and 29. Other than that, he had no plans. There was a rough plan for a Brock Lesnar match at WrestleMania 30 although that's not happening. Perhaps they can do it at WrestleMania 31. One appearance that Rock will likely make in the coming years is for the WWE Hall of Fame. He's a really big name that can be used as a headline act that would give a very memorable speech. It could be WrestleMania 31 weekend or some other year down the line. As usual, Rock is keeping busy and with Ballers set to film later this year he'll make an impact on HBO that could electrify the millions (and millions) of The Rock's fans all over the world.
