WWE: Roman Reigns And The 6 Samoans Who Changed Wrestling

6. The Headshrinkers

The Headshrinkers were signed in 1992, along with Rodney Anoa'i, who would go on to be repackaged as "Yokozuna". The Headshrinkers were managed by Afa Anoaʻi, 1/2 of the 'Wild Samoans' from World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF). They were Samu and one Fatu, who would go on later to become Rikishi and fight alongside Scotty 2 Hotty at the tail end of the WWF's Attitude Era. In 1992 though, their team paid homage to their manager's; The Headshrinkers would act as these Samoan savages, oddballs intent on wearing shrunken heads as part of their getup, performing twisted acts outside of the ring, and delivering countless headbutts en route to becoming Tag Team Champions. They were invilved in the initial King of the Ring PPV, an event that signaled the real start for the New Generation Era of WWF Superstars. Their match was an 8-man tag bout that consisted of the Steiner Brothers, The Smokin' Gunns, The Headshrinkers, and then-champions Money Inc., made up of Ted DiBiase and I.R.S. -- whose son Bray Wyatt was surely watching the match somewhere on closed circuit television in a rocking chair. The Headshrinkers costed Money Inc. the match, by teaming up with Bart and Billy Gunn to ensure anybody but DiBiase gloated with a win. They would go on to become WWF Tag Team Champions in 1994, involved in several memorable feuds and in helping their kinfolk, Yokozuna, continue to dominate the WWF. But not before Yokozuna shocked the wrestling world with his match at that very King of the Ring with WWF Champion Hulk Hogan.
